How we got started...
One day, several years ago, I learned how to surf. The next day I needed a place to put my board. I went out to find something that would look nice in my place. Nothin. ...so I made my own and hung my board ...and I was happy
...then, my next door neighbor walks by and saiz ..."hey - where'd you get those, I'd buy two." And BOOM! Hawaiian Gun Rack was born. Turns out - I like building things, have an inventor's mind and a designers eye ...so the company got started on an idea to fulfill a need that did not exist at the time. I am a proud craftsman and designer with a desire to build quality products that everyone can use.
We are striving to create new and unique pieces that are earth friendly and affordable. Our desire to focus on sustainable building practices and using recyclable materials is what drives us to create our newest products. We were one of the first companies to start selling nice looking surf racks and the first to start using bamboo with our designs.
We also want to save you valuable time by doing the searching for you. Besides testing the products we carry - we start out our day by checking Amazon pricing and updating our site so that you will be getting the best prices available. This way you don't have to spend time price checking and product searching.
We are a mix of Amazon and Etsy combined ..."AMATSY"! ...just made that up :-) We offer you Amazon service with Etsy skills and you get an expert at storage solutions to answer your questions and offer advice anytime you call.
We are not a machine built on helping other retailer with no contact numbers, lousy customer service selling anything just to make a buck. You will talk to the owner of this website who personally builds, designs, tests and invents our products. So as a result we feel like we’re experts and we think we know a good design when we see it. But to make sure - we buy them and test them and only offer you what are the best products available and we hope, with your patronage, we will continue to lead our niche market in new ways that will benefit everyone.

A little Surf rack history...
We are striving to create new and unique pieces that are earth friendly and affordable. Our desire to focus on sustainable building practices and using recyclable materials is what drives us to create our newest products. We were one of the first companies on the interent to start selling nice looking surf racks and the first to start using bamboo with our designs.
Back around 2003 I couldn't find anything that I wanted to put in my livingroom. It was either too big and bulky or was a copy of the same garage style racks that most people had been using since the 60's. So I searched the web, which people were just starting to use, and I found 2 products that came close to trying to store and/or display a surfboard in a nice way. The Sho-off acrylic wall rack that was designed and marketed back in the late 70's (before the internet) and a local guy making fins and racks, neither of them worked for my sense of esthetics so I invented the Hawaiian Gun Rack. A simple design that did not extend into your living space too far and was strong enough to hold almost any surfboard.
We started a website (circa 2004) got a patent and started selling. We must have started something as very quickly a few more companies came out with their designs and soon the surf rack market was rejuvinated as other craftsmen started selling their concepts and followed in our footsteps and in the last 2 years the internet has exploded with new paddle board and surfboard wall rack designs of all shapes and sizes.
We like to feel like we injected creativity into a market that had lanquished. Now we are searching out other small American Crafstman and offering their products along side of ours in the hope that we can become your local world wide stop for quality surf and paddle board products.
